Online Commodities Trading – What does the future hold? Can't Post

Hi,

While online commodity trading has picked up dramatically last few years, what does the future hold for it? I am not just referring to the technology aspects, but also societal aspects – for instance, whether this will bring in a larger section of the society to trading online…I read reports that in future even farmers in countries such as India (where I belong) could start trading directly online for their commodities, thus making trading in commodities more broad-based…in the present set-up they have no clue what is going on in the commodities markets…

How do you think concepts such as Web 2.0 and extra-ordinary transparency in information sharing affect commodities trading in future? Today, one is able to access expert opinion on most anything – including info and trends on commodities – from the web, and that too at little or no cost…what does this transparency and ease of information access mean to futures trading, the success in which sometimes lie in the ability to have proprietary knowledge of certain domains…

I’d like to get the opinions of board members on these.
